The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19 on Sunday to end the Chiefs' perfect start to the 2026 season. The victory gave Seattle its first win over the division rivals in the current campaign and halted a seven-game winning streak for Kansas City.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the Seahawks' offense with 129 receiving yards in the first half, a career high for the wideout. His performance placed him first in the NFL with 867 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns after seven games. According to ESPN Research, he is the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach at least 850 yards and eight touchdowns in his team's first seven contests of a season. The previous record for a half by a Seahawks receiver was held by Tyler Lockett, who had 133 yards against Arizona in 2020.

Quarterback Sam Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown for Seattle. He avoided being sacked after taking five in each of his previous two games. However, he threw his eighth interception in the last five games late in the first half. The ball was picked off in the back of the end zone, costing Seattle three points before halftime.

The Chiefs' receiving corps produced only six receptions for 39 total yards. The unit played without Rashee Rice, who suffered a strained right hamstring, and Tyquan Thornton, who is on injured reserve following ankle surgery. Xavier Worthy, rookie Cyrus Allen, Justin Watson, Andrew Armstrong, and Jalen Royals combined for the paltry output against a Seattle defense that played with two deep safeties for much of the game.

Running back Kenneth Walker III, who entered the game leading the league with 665 rushing yards, was held to 36 yards on 14 carries. The Seahawks never allowed him to gain 10 yards or more on a single rush. Walker made history as the first Super Bowl MVP to face his former team the following season.

Patrick Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards and no touchdowns. This marked his fourth game in the last five where he did not top 250 passing yards. He has not thrown a touchdown pass in his last two outings, averaging 12.4 fantasy points per game over that span. His season-low fantasy score of six points reflects his recent struggles.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is expected to explore trade options for additional receiving talent before the November 10 deadline. The lack of production from the position group on Sunday highlights the need for depth. The Chiefs will travel to Denver on Sunday to face the Broncos in Week 8.

The Seahawks will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 8:15 p.m. ET. They enter the game with a resilient mindset, as described by Smith-Njigba, who noted the team's brotherhood and ability to fight when their backs were against the wall.
