Philadelphia Eagles fans face a challenging Sunday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders. The game concludes the Week 8 schedule, but the Eagles enter the contest with a 2-5 record. They have lost their last five games in a row. Washington, which is 1-4-1, comes off a bye week.
The Eagles started the 2026 season with high expectations after winning the NFC East in 2025. Those hopes have dimmed due to a series of setbacks. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith and running back Saquon Barkley have both missed recent time due to injuries. The offensive line lost depth when Lane Johnson retired a few weeks ago.
Philadelphia recently suffered a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. The Commanders also had a rough start to the season. Washington blew a win against New York in overtime earlier this month. Their only victory of the 2026 season came against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
The Commanders face their own health issues. Star receiver Terry McLaurin is out for the year. However, the team is expected to be healthy after its week of rest. SportsLine’s projection model simulated the matchup 10,000 times. In those runs, Washington won 65% of the time. The model also showed the teams combining for more than 40.5 points in 55% of the simulations.
