Two young superstars, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs and Cooper Flagg of the Dallas Mavericks, will face off for the first time this season on Wednesday evening. The matchup is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Eastern at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The two teams met on Oct. 24, with San Antonio winning 122-106, but Flagg sat out that contest due to a shoulder injury.
Flagg has returned to strong form, averaging 26.3 points, 7.8 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks over his last four games. The Spurs are coming off a five-game winning streak during which they averaged 118.9 points per 100 possessions. SportsLine’s projection model anticipates a high-scoring affair, assigning a 'B' grade to the Over 226.5 total. The model calculates a 58.2% probability that the combined score will reach 227 points or more.
Earlier in the evening at 7 p.m., the Detroit Pistons host the Philadelphia 76ers at Little Caesars Arena. Detroit enters the game as a 2.5-point favorite. The Pistons have won their last six meetings against Philadelphia, a streak that began in February 2025. Their most recent victory was a 13-point win in Philadelphia last month, a game in which both Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson sat out for Detroit.
The 76ers, who share the league's best record with the Houston Rockets at 7-1, have relied on close finishes. Six of their seven victories have occurred in games that were within five points during the final five minutes. However, their offensive output has been mediocre, ranking 19th in the league with 110.6 points per 100 possessions. Detroit leads the NBA in defensive efficiency, allowing only 102 points per 100 possessions. The SportsLine model gives the Pistons a 54% chance to cover the spread.
In college football, the UMass Minutemen host the Ball State Cardinals at 7 p.m. in Amherst, Massachusetts. UMass is seeking to end a four-game losing streak after winning their first four contests of the season. The Minutemen are favored by 3 points. Ball State’s defense has struggled, allowing 35.3 points per game, which ranks 131st nationally. They also rank 115th in rushing defense, giving up 183.1 yards per game.
The SportsLine model assigns a 'B' grade to UMass covering the spread, estimating a 65% probability of success. Also at 7 p.m., the Sacramento State Hornets host the Toledo Rockets in Sacramento, California. Sacramento State is a 25.5-point underdog. The Hornets recently secured their first Mid-American Conference victory with a 31-10 win over Kent State, forcing five turnovers in that game. Toledo has committed six turnovers over its last three games.
The model assigns a strong 'A' grade to the Hornets covering the spread, citing a 74% probability. In Detroit, the Eastern Michigan Eagles and Central Michigan Chippewas meet at Ford Field at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have been more productive offensively in conference play. Eastern Michigan averages 25 points in MAC games compared to 16.8 in non-conference games. Central Michigan averages 24 points against league opponents versus 11.8 against non-league foes.
The total points line for that game is 44.5. The total has exceeded this number in six of Eastern’s nine games and six of Central’s nine contests this season. The projection model predicts a 62.5% chance the teams will combine for 45 points or more, assigning a strong 'A' grade to the Over.
