Amazon MGM Studios expanded the cast for its upcoming series adaptation of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone on Wednesday. The project, based on the novel by Benjamin Stevenson, secured eight new series regulars to join lead actor Penn Badgley. This development adds depth to a narrative described as darkly comedic and centered on a mystery writer navigating a chaotic family event.
The newly announced cast includes Patricia Clarkson, Elizabeth Marvel, Daniella Garcia, Felix Solis, Sean Astin, Annaleigh Ashford, Chris Walley, and Eliza Bennett. Each actor brings prior recognition from projects such as Sharp Objects, Ozark, and Stranger Things. Their addition signals a full ensemble approach for the production, ensuring a wide range of characters for the storyline.
Alexandra Broksky joined the project as an executive producer. She will direct half of the episodes, specifically handling the premiere and the season finale. David Hemingson serves as showrunner and executive producer for the adaptation. The production team also includes Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Jeanne Snow of Made Up Stories. Molly Allen and Brodsky are also listed as executive producers, alongside Badgley and Stevenson.
The story follows Ern Cunningham, a mystery-writing expert played by Badgley. He reluctantly attends a family reunion in the dense mountains of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The purpose of the gathering is to welcome his brother Michael home from prison. Ern previously helped convict Michael, creating immediate tension within the family dynamic. When a frozen body appears and a snowstorm traps the group indoors, the deaths begin to mount.
The logline notes that everyone in the family has already killed someone, either by accident or otherwise. This premise sets the stage for a series of escalating events confined to a single location. The production combines elements of a murder mystery with family drama, relying on the isolation of the setting to drive the plot forward. The cast additions provide the necessary personnel to flesh out this interconnected group of characters.
Co-production duties are shared by Amazon MGM Studios, Fifth Season, and Made Up Stories. The casting decisions were facilitated by various talent agencies, including CAA, Entertainment 360, Verve, and Linden Entertainment. These representatives managed the negotiations for the actors joining the series. The project moves forward with a complete core team in place for production.
