Harry Kane is still adjusting to life as the reigning Ballon d'Or winner. He returned to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday for a DFB Pokal second-round match against Magdeburg, less than 48 hours after accepting the award in London. Rather than resting, Kane used the evening to watch his teammates warm up behind the opponent's goal, a brief appearance that drew chants from a small group of Bayern Munich supporters.

The coaching staff initially planned to give Kane the night off. Bayern faced Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League the following Tuesday. The decision to rest was driven by the physical demands of the upcoming schedule. However, the occasion changed the dynamic. Kane's teammates formed a guard of honor before kickoff, signaling the importance of his return since Monday's ceremony.

Bayern Munich secured a 6-1 victory against the second-division side. Kane did not enter the game. His presence on the sidelines served as a personal celebration for becoming the first English player to win the individual prize in 25 years. He is also the first Bundesliga player to claim the honor since Matthias Sammer won it in 1996. The ceremony in London ended around 11 p.m. local time, followed by a reception that Kane described as lengthy.

Kane said he is "still processing everything." He noted that the attention is different from typical football celebrations. "It's not my normal thing to enjoy," he said. He acknowledged that he felt embarrassed when teammates applauded him during warm-ups. The volume of messages from friends, family, and coaches confirmed the magnitude of the achievement.

The player has historically prioritized team success over individual accolades. He left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern in 2023 to pursue collective trophies, despite being close to the Premier League scoring record. His primary focus remains winning the World Cup with England every four years. The Ballon d'Or, however, allows for no sharing. Only one name appears on the trophy.

Kane trained on Tuesday and stated he was ready to play if selected on Wednesday. He is expected to follow a standard preparation routine for Saturday's match against Dortmund. He described the return to football as a source of comfort. "It feels like the Freiburg game was six weeks ago," he said. He emphasized that the last 48 hours have been a whirlwind, and being back at the club provided a sense of normality.

The next major event is Saturday's clash with Borussia Dortmund. Kane confirmed that the club will hold a pre-game ceremony to celebrate his win. He also mentioned a specific Bavarian tradition involving a gold-flaked schnitzel delivered to his home. He had not eaten the dish by Wednesday due to his pre-match dietary routine. His family remains in London and is scheduled to return on Friday. He plans to show the trophy to his four children, aged three to nine, and warned that he may need to guard the heavy object from them.
