The global rollout of the iPhone Duo began in full swing on Friday, October 23, as Apple Stores worldwide saw an immediate surge in foot traffic. The device, billed as the company’s first foldable smartphone, has drawn massive crowds eager to get their hands on the hardware. While Apple shared official imagery of the launch from various international locations, social media feeds also filled with user-submitted photos showing the scale of the event in local markets.

Apple’s official statement confirms that customers packed stores across the globe to experience the new technology. Team members were on the floor providing hands-on demonstrations and personalized shopping assistance. The company highlighted the collaborative effort between retail staff and eager buyers, framing the day as a significant milestone for the brand’s hardware lineup.

High-level executives joined the celebration at key locations to mark the occasion. Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, was present at the flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City. He was accompanied by retail executive Vanessa Trigub. Meanwhile, CEO John Ternus attended the launch event at the Apple Domain NORTHSIDE store in Austin, Texas, alongside retail chief Deirdre O’Brien.

Ternus’s presence in Austin aligns with recent reports that he toured Apple’s offices in the city earlier this week. The timing coincides with the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix taking place in Austin over the weekend, a period during which Apple serves as the exclusive F1 streamer in the United States. This convergence of corporate activity and major sporting events adds a layer of visibility to the launch in that specific market.

Despite the excitement, securing a unit without a pre-order proved difficult for many. Lines formed overnight at Apple Stores around the world as shoppers hoped to purchase the device through walk-in availability. Apple had previously cautioned that retail inventory would be "limited," and early reports suggest that expectation has been met. Store employees were seen directing disappointed customers to the Apple Store app the following morning at 10 a.m. ET to check for updated in-stock details.

The limited availability has sparked immediate discussion among consumers who missed their chance to buy the device in person. While Apple’s marketing team celebrates the debut, the practical challenge of supply remains a key factor for early adopters. The company is monitoring inventory levels closely as the day progresses, with the 10 a.m. ET update serving as the primary channel for those waiting for restocks.

As the day unfolds, the focus shifts from the initial hype to the logistics of distribution. The iPhone Duo’s launch has clearly generated significant momentum, but the gap between demand and available stock is testing the company’s retail infrastructure. Customers are now turning to digital tools to track availability, hoping to secure the device before the initial rush subsides.
