The Green Bay Packers defeated the Carolina Panthers 27-19 on Thursday night at Lambeau Field, overcoming three turnovers to secure a win that improves their record to 5-3. Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards, while running back Josh Jacobs added two touchdowns and 39 rushing yards.
Love connected with tight end Tucker Kraft, wide receiver Matthew Golden, and Jacobs for scores, though he also threw one interception. Jacobs finished the game with 21 carries against the league's lowest-ranked run defense. His first touchdown came on a four-yard reception, and his second on a one-yard run, helping the Packers establish control in the second half.
Carolina, now 3-4, mounted a late challenge after trailing 27-10 in the third quarter. Quarterback Bryce Young threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Coker on a fourth-and-three play with 5:37 remaining, cutting the deficit to 27-19. An incomplete two-point conversion attempt followed, leaving the Panthers needing a touchdown to force overtime.
The Panthers recovered the ball at their own 45-yard line but were stopped at midfield on downs with 2:41 left. With 22 seconds remaining and no timeouts, Carolina faced a final drive from their own 20-yard line. A sack by Dani Dennis-Sutton on that final play ended the game and the comeback hopes.
Young finished the contest 23 of 31 for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Running back Chuba Hubbard carried the ball 22 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, while also catching seven passes for 38 yards. The Panthers' defensive secondary remains thin, with three other cornerbacks currently on injured reserve.
Injuries affected both teams during the game. Packers wide receiver Christian Watson left the game after injuring his chest on a 53-yard catch in the second quarter and was transported to a hospital. Carolina cornerback Will Lee suffered a hamstring injury while diving on the same play. The Packers also evaluated tight end Josh Whyle for a concussion in the first half.
The game featured a halftime ceremony honoring former Packers president and CEO Bob Harlan, who died March 5 at age 89. His name was unveiled on the northeast facade of Lambeau Field alongside that of former general manager Ted Thompson. Additionally, members of the Milwaukee Brewers received a crowd ovation one night after winning the World Series, with pitcher Brandon Woodruff holding the Commissioner's Trophy during a timeout.
