Lily Tang Williams, the Republican nominee for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, stated that Beijing will actively exploit a Democratic-controlled Congress to expand its reach in the United States.

Williams, who fled communist China following the Tiananmen Square massacre, told Fox News Digital that China seeks to dismantle the U.S. She said the nation will capitalize on what she termed America's weakness if Democrats retain power in January.

"I fear that the country I love is becoming the country I left," Williams said. She is challenging Rep. Maggie Goodlander, a Democrat from New Hampshire, in the upcoming race.

The candidate cited a recent trip to China by the Democratic Socialists of America, or DSA, as evidence of this alignment. She claimed more than a dozen high-ranking DSA members traveled to the country to create favorable coverage of the regime. Williams argued that the Chinese government uses a vulnerable Democratic Party to promote itself in the U.S.

"They now share a similar ideology," Williams said. She also linked Democratic immigration policies to national security risks, suggesting they make it easier for Chinese intelligence operatives to enter the country. She specifically warned about potential espionage activity along the southern border.

Williams pointed to a recent Gallup poll showing that 43% of Americans now have a positive view of socialism, the first time this has occurred since 2010. She noted that at least six new DSA-affiliated lawmakers could join Congress in January. "Congress will be controlled by people who sympathize with the CCP and its Marxist principles," she warned.

The nominee criticized Goodlander for refusing to condemn Marxism, specifically mentioning New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Williams argued that moderate Democrats will increasingly side with the party's progressive wing in the 120th Congress. "My opponent refuses to condemn Marxism and Marxist American figures like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani when asked. This is very troubling," she said. Goodlander, the DSA, and the Democratic Party did not respond to requests for comment.
