San Antonio police detained a 31-year-old federal immigration officer on suspicion of driving while intoxicated late Monday night. The arrest occurred just before midnight near the intersection of Interstate 10 West and Colorado Street.

Officers stopped Ian Rashad Tucker, who displayed signs of intoxication during the traffic check, according to San Antonio Police Department records cited by KSAT. A law enforcement source told the television station that Tucker works for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The agency did not confirm his employment directly but acknowledged the incident.

Bexar County jail records show Tucker was booked into custody on Tuesday. He posted bond and walked out of jail the same evening. The quick release means he is currently free while the investigation proceeds.

An ICE spokesperson sent an email to KSAT explaining the agency's standard protocol. The agency stated that it never confirms the identities of its officers in public. The spokesperson emphasized that the workforce is entrusted with upholding the rule of law.

“The men and women of ICE are entrusted with upholding the rule of law and are held to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct,” the spokesperson wrote. The agency added that incidents of misconduct are investigated thoroughly. When findings are substantiated, appropriate action follows. Tucker remains on bond as the case moves through the local court system.
