Google and Xreal are selling the Aura glasses for $1,099, a figure that undercuts the previous preorder price by $180. The device became available for purchase on October 28, 2026. This launch price holds through the end of the year. The earlier preorder cost was $1,279, a price point set by Xreal last month.
The Aura headset weighs 95 grams. It pairs transparent lenses with a tethered Android XR compute puck. The display offers a 70-degree diagonal field of view. This specification represents one of the widest fields of view available in transparent glasses. The system supports multiple virtual screens simultaneously.
Two configuration options are available at launch. The base model includes 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $1,099. A higher-tier version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at $1,299. These two options are currently sold in the United States, Canada, and South Korea. Sales in Japan begin on November 2. Broader global availability is scheduled for the following year.
Existing preorders placed at the $1,279 price point will receive an automatic refund for the difference. Ralph Jodice, the general manager and spokesperson for Xreal, confirmed that the refund will be issued instantly without customer action. The company removed the need for reservations or Founder's Edition tiers for new buyers in launch countries.
The launch lineup includes more than 150 experiences designed for the platform. These titles include immersive films such as Andy Serkis' Nevatars and Galapagos: the Last Eden. Users can connect a computer or handheld game console via USB-C to the compute puck. This connection mirrors the external display to the glasses alongside virtual windows. The system also allows users to query Google's Gemini AI about visible content.
Google Photos is receiving a spatial gallery update this year. This feature wraps a user's photo library around them in 3D. The company stated that users can pan from an entire year down to a single day using hand gestures. Xreal is also developing a wireless gamepad with GameSir. This controller features a dedicated Gemini key, a charging dock, and swappable D-pads. A folding portable wireless keyboard is also in the works. Pricing and release dates for these accessories have not been announced.
